Eastern Europe is primarily a Christian region. However, several branches of Christianity are present, the most distinct being Orthodox and Catholic. These branches are split up into smaller sub branches, like Eastern Orthodox, Russian Orthodox, and Roman and Greek Catholic. Thereis also a small population of Protestants. Additionally, there are numerous citizens who are nonreligious or atheist due to the former Soviet Union condemning religion.
